Another left-wing news outlet is scrambling to re-write history to prevent Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic Party nominee for president, from attacks by her opponent, former President Donald Trump.
“Trump claims Harris helped raise millions and personally donated to a fund that got extra support to bail out protestors in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death,” says a report by WCCO, the Minneapolis affiliate of CBS, titled “Trump falsely accuses Harris of donating to Minnesota Freedom Fund, bailing out “dangerous criminals.”
In fact, in 2020, Harris did solicit funds for the Minnesota Freedom Fund on her X (then Twitter) account.
“If you’re able to, chip in now to the [Minnesota Freedom Fund] to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota,” said Harris in a 2020 post on X.

On top of that, the news outlet falsely claimed that Trump accused Harris of personally donating to the fund.
At a rally in Charlotte, Trump slammed Harris for soliciting the funds but never said she personally donated.
“One of the dangerous criminals Kamala helped bail out of jail was Shawn Michael Tillman, you know that name,” Trump said. “A repeat offender who with Harris’ help was set free. He then went on to murder a man on a train platform in St. Paul, Minnesota in cold blood, shooting him six times [while the victim was] lying on the ground.”
WCCO even embedded the clip, which disproves its own headline, into the story.
In 2020, George Floyd’s death at the hands of police while on methamphetamine and fentanyl, Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters tore through Minneapolis.
The Minnesota Freedom Fund helped bail those rioters out of jail.
Tillman was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, which was committed in 2022, earlier this year.
Harris denied her involvement in promoting the bail fund in a 2022 interview on MSNBC after the shooting, as reported by The Tennessee Star.
“I think that unfortunately what we’re seeing is people are playing political games right now. We’re 18 days away from midterms and we have sadly not seen a lack of misinformation and disinformation. I think this is another one of those examples,” she said at the time.
Over the past week, the left-wing mainstream press has been scrambling to cover up Harris’ role as “border czar,” claiming that she never held that title despite multiple reports made by those same mainstream press outlets that Harris was, in fact, the “border czar.”
